Data Center and Cloud Strategy for our Atlassian Apps

As you might have heard from the Atlassian BlogPost “Accelerating our journey to the cloud, together”, there are some big changes ahead. Atlassian has announced End of sale for new Server licenses in Feb 2021 and this impacts us as Atlassian Marketplace Partners and our Apps as well.

Atlassian changes to server products

In February 2021 Atlassian will make these changes go into effect:

• End of new server license sales: You can no longer purchase or request a quote for a new server product.
• Updates to server prices: Atlassian will implement new prices for server renewals and upgrades

In February 2024 Atlassian will make these changes go into effect:

• End support for all server products: This means that support and bug fixes will no longer be available for your server products.

Effects on codeclou Apps for Atlassian Jira and Conflunce

If you need a self-managed environment migrate from Server to Data Center or you can make the switch to Cloud. We will be ready with the right solution for you in time.

• Customfield Editor for Jira: With Customfield Editor for Jira we have invested into Data Center early on. And are working on a Cloud version of the App already. We will continue to invest into Data Center and Cloud and are continously working on performance optimizations and new features. Recently we have joined the BugBounty Program for Data Center. We are very proud to be one of the first Partners that participate in the BugBounty Program for Data Center versions of Atlassian Apps.
• Advanced Codeblocks for Confluence: With Advanced Codeblocks for Confluence we also have invested into Data Center early on. The App is pleased with increasing popularity so we will also deliver a cloud version of it. The first steps have already been taken. We will as well continue to invest into a Data Center and Cloud version of Advanced Codeblocks for Confluence App and continously work on new features.
• Release Info for Confluence: We are focusing mainly on Customfield Editor for Jira and Advanced Codeblocks for Confluence therefore we decided to not further develop the Release Info for Confluence. So far it is available for free and in a Server-only version on the Marketplace. The App will be faded out in the near future. We will announce the end of lifetime separately with enough time ahead for you to migrate away from the App.

Concluding Thoughts

We fully support the direction Atlassian is taking to be a Cloud driven company and have already set codeclou on track for this future. Nevertheless we see the benefits of On-Premise such as security and privacy. Therefore we will continously invest into both Data Center and Cloud.
